Profile
Patience, an eye for detail and empathy are qualities which I try to bring to my work. Being a mother of four and dividing my time between London and Norfolk allows a certain perspective and provides experience and candor which is invaluable in selecting 'that' moment through the viewfinder.
Since I picked up a camera a few years ago, just shooting for my own amusement, things have gained a momentum of their own. I first studied receiving two BTEC awards in photography, including a distinction for my experimental work, I then went on to study Studio and Location Photography at LCC, which is part of the University of the Arts London, which I passed with distinction.
I enjoy the variety which photography offers; the control of a still-life, the blank canvas of a studio shoot, to more informal outdoor portraiture and capturing the dynamism of sporting events. I also enjoy the challenge of getting the best out of people, particularly women, who do not generally like having their photo taken!
Mainly working with a Nikon digital SLR which allows me to concentrate on getting the best out of any shot, I work in black and white or colour which ever is appropriate. I also use a medium format film camera, which is a slower process, however the quality of the end result rewards the patience and discipline invested.
Above all, for me, it's all about communication.
